Soulful creole séga
Davy Sicard
A sensorial reinvention of Réunionese séga, where Creole poetry and choreography become one shared ritual.
Davy Sicard has been an iconic artist from Réunion Island for three decades. He is celebrated for his captivating voice, refined music, finely crafted lyrics and, above all, his commitment.Born in France to a Malagasy father and a Réunionese mother, Davy Sicard grew up on Réunion Island, absorbing its rich cultural heritage, shaped by the histories of slavery and cultural blending.
From the beginning of his solo career, he stood out through his innovative approach to maloya, Réunion’s traditional music. He became a pioneer of a new wave by creating Maloya Kabosé, a bold fusion of tradition and modernity.
His second album, Ker Maron (2006), propelled him onto the international stage. Through innovative productions such as Fé Inn, Zanfan Rev and Mon Péi Sansasoriel, Davy Sicard continues to push the boundaries of the musical experience, offering audiences unique and unprecedented moments where music meets other art forms, from circus to video. As Télérama noted, “Davy Sicard is far more than a singer: he is a true multidisciplinary artist, constantly exploring new creative territories.”
Bal Kabar (2020), praised by Les Inrockuptibles as “a musical and social odyssey offering a clear-eyed view of today’s world,” foreshadowed his artistic shift towards séga.
With Kafé Griyé, his seventh album, released in 2025, the artist once again confirms his passion for reimagined heritage. He offers a full album of séga nouvo, as rich as the volcanic soil from which coffee springs, as smooth as the fragrance of its beans, and lovingly ripened beneath the sun of Réunion Island.
Kafé Griyé is an invitation to savour an original Creole identity, in all its sensuality.
Line-up can be adapted to the artistic direction, venue capacity and event format.

INROCKUPTIBLES
Like a carefully prepared roasted coffee, Davy Sicard’s new album should be savoured slowly: a séga where patience and transmission sway within the same rhythm.
TERRITOIRES MEDIA
Kafé Griyé has that rare flavour that clings to memory: as light as a veil of smoke over roasted coffee, as deep as Creole soil.
