With Five Moons, Jeff Herr Corporation enters a new cycle: more electric, more instinctive and more open to the unexpected. Led by Luxembourg drummer, composer and sound designer Jeff Herr, the trio brings together saxophonist Maxime Bender and Pol Belardi on electric bass and synthesizers. Together, they shape a music where rhythmic force, electronic colour and improvisational risk are inseparable.

The project emerged from a creative residency at neimënster between December 2024 and April 2025. Away from the pressure of immediate results, the three musicians developed a renewed language based on movement, contrast and listening. The result is neither jazz with electronic decoration nor a fixed fusion formula. It is a living trio sound: drums that direct and destabilise, bass lines that turn into pulse or atmosphere, saxophone melodies that rise above the groove before breaking it open.

Five Moons draws its energy from cycles rather than repetition. Its compositions move between dense rhythmic architectures, deep low-end patterns, airy melodic spaces and sudden changes of direction. The trio leaves room for tension and release, for precision and disruption, for the kind of spontaneous decisions that make every performance singular. Herr’s playing remains the engine of the project—organic, physical and detailed—while Bender and Belardi extend the field of sound through lyrical flights, grainy textures and electronic shadows.

This new chapter follows a long-running artistic path. Founded by Jeff Herr in 2003, the Corporation has continually reshaped its identity through projects such as Modern Times, Conspiracy, Layer Cake and Manifesto. Across these releases, the group has developed a language rooted in contemporary jazz while refusing to settle into one format. Five Moons is the latest transformation: a focused trio format with a broader sonic horizon.

On stage, Jeff Herr Corporation is driven by interaction. Nothing is simply reproduced; the music is continually rebalanced in real time between groove, space and collective impulse. The result is a vibrant electro-jazz experience—physical without being demonstrative, exploratory without losing its sense of direction.
