Biography
Originally from New Orleans and now based between Luxembourg and Paris, guitarist and composer Greg Lamy stands out as one of the most distinctive voices on the European jazz scene. Trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston and at Trinity College in London, he was quickly noticed on club and festival stages in Europe as well as in New York.
Surrounded by his trio and quartet, he develops a musical universe where swing, groove, and contemporary jazz intersect, driven by a guitar sound that is at once limpid, melodic, and deeply expressive. His collaborations with artists such as Lionel Loueke, Bojan Z, Gretchen Parlato, and Flavio Boltro feed into an open, generous music that is firmly rooted in interaction.
With his albums “Meeting”, “Press Enter”, “Observe the Silence”, and “Letting Go”, released on Igloo Records, Greg Lamy confirms a highly personal writing style and a stage presence that have taken him on the road across Europe, the United States, Brazil, and China. Winner of the Export Artist of the Year award (music:LX) in 2016 and supported by guitar brand Westville since 2020, he continues to pursue an ever‑evolving path, balancing his work as a bandleader with invitations to join international ensembles.
