Digital Tropics
«"Digital Tropics" is Mutiny On The Bounty's third album and marks a major turning point in the band's history: for the first time, the Luxembourgish quartet has released a completely instrumental album, where vocals disappear in favor of a purely musical language. Recorded with producer Jan Kerscher and released in 2015 via Redfield Records (Europe) and Small Pond Recordings (UK/France), the album condenses ten tracks and forty-five minutes of luminous math-rock, at once precise, melodic, and profoundly cinematic. Conceived as a true immersion, "Digital Tropics" explores all facets of the band's personality, blending rock, electronic influences, 80s references, and a very contemporary approach to sound. The tracks play on repetitive motifs, complex time signatures, and arpeggiated guitars that overlap to create an almost hypnotic state, as highlighted by several specialized reviews. We hear both the legacy of post-rock and post-hardcore as well as the desire to engage with more »dance« aesthetics, in a style of writing that prioritizes atmospheres and dynamics rather than gratuitous demonstration.

On stage, “Digital Tropics” lies at the heart of a set designed for festivals and venues looking for a live show that is both technically ambitious and accessible. Tracks such as “Telekinesis”, “Mkl Jksn”, and “Ballet Mécanique” give the band ideal material to build crescendo‑driven setlists, where rising tension, sudden breaks, and explosive ensemble passages take on their full meaning in front of an audience. The album’s wide, dynamic production, often praised for its clarity and impact, reveals its full power in a live context, further cementing Mutiny On The Bounty’s reputation as one of the most exciting math‑rock bands to book today.

« (...) while drummer Falcon holds everything together with his extremely tight drumming, the rest of the band clowns around with the listener – it's a real pleasure! Magnificent! »
Westzeit

« MOTB manages to insinuate itself into listeners' ears with considerable ease, without offering "easy" music. »
Mescaline Injection.de

« Music of the future, as complex as it is catchy: MOTB tightens the screws even further on their mathrock and postrock madness on Digital Tropics. And they sound more than ever like the rock version of Foals, if you took away the vocals from the British band. »
Visions Magazine

« It's not just well-executed and packs more ideas into a single song than many bands use on an entire album. It's also brutally beautiful, melodic guitar rock that will appeal to anyone who loves music with as much guts as brains. »
Rockslide Festival – Denmark

« (...) they have ideas everywhere on their second release. While every aspect of their composition seems to be the result of years of experimentation that are paying off, in reality they are only just getting started. And that's very exciting. »
Kerrang – UK

« (...) they created an intense and interesting effort. The foundations for an exciting future have been laid for these Luxembourgish rockers. »
