Gaël Horellou and Claude Egéa first met in 2021 on the stage of the Monastier brass festival, where Claude suggested playing themes by Michel Legrand, whose lead trumpeter he had been for 29 years. Those powerful musical moments now live on in a band that reaches the highest levels of swing and lyricism.
Michel Legrand remains a central figure in both French and international music. A genius composer, he broke down the boundaries between jazz, chanson, and film music, leaving behind an exceptionally rich body of work.
Through this project, the quintet led by saxophonist Gaël Horellou and trumpeter Claude Egéa revisits Legrand’s unforgettable melodies with creativity and sensitivity, offering a vibrant tribute where the elegance of his compositions meets the freedom and energy of jazz.
