Biography
In 2011, she founded AKODA, a flagship Creole jazz project with which she released several EPs and the albums “Muzik pou lo kèr” and “Nout’Souk”, both widely broadcast on specialist radio and supported by labels committed to promoting world music and jazz. With her new project Tèr Laba, co‑created with Guadeloupean pianist Flo Vincenot, she steps forward as singer and bassist to revisit sega and Creole repertoires, reconnect with her mother tongue, and offer a body of work that is at once powerful, intimate, and danceable.
On stage, Valérie Chane Tef shapes a warm and intense universe, where the trio’s close rapport and the constant dialogue between instruments create a generous and immersive experience. She is regularly invited to appear on major stages such as PAPJAZZ in Haiti, the Nosy Boraha Jazz Festival in Madagascar, and leading clubs in Paris and across Europe, alongside musicians and artistic partners who share her taste for cross‑cultural fusion, improvisation, and sonic exploration.
